Charles L. Colbert, Jr. was born on September 27, 1949 in Gary, Indiana to the late Charlie L. Colbert, Sr. and Earnestine Ridgell-Colbert. He was the third of ten children. Charles was a 1969 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana. He confessed Christ at an early age and loved God and His Word. He was a member of New Life Worship Center, Indianapolis, Indiana, where his spiritual life was enriched and he grew in the knowledge and grace of his Lord. Charles was industrious, a very hard worker, and had an entrepreneurial spirit. Besides being self-employed and launching several business ventures, he was employed by Budd Company for ten years, Chicago Metropolitan Insurance Company as an agent, Silverman's Clothing as the Asst. Manager, and AT&T for 24 years as a Customer Service Representative and Human Resource Manager. He was currently employed at CEVA Logistics in Plainfield, Indiana. "Chuck" as he was affectionately called, was generous, charismatic and had a great personality. He had a genuine compassion for people and deeply loved his family and friends. Chuck never met a stranger and always had a word of advice or encouragement for every person he met. His favorite pastime and sport was playing basketball and watching movies; especially if they were westerns, action and martial arts films. Charles L. Colbert, Jr. departed his temporary home here to be in the presence of His Lord and Savior on Monday, February 8, 2010. We will miss his love, wit, laughter and uncanny ability to make us laugh. Charles will be greatly missed by his two devoted daughters Sharee' (David) McKey of Indianapolis, IN, Kimberly Colbert of South Bend, Indiana; three grandsons Joshua, Jeren, and Aiden McKey of Indianapolis, Indiana; six sisters Beverly Neuman of Cornelius, North Carolina, Claudette Colbert of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cherlyn Colbert of Fort Myers, Florida, Kimberly Bowlds of Sherman Oaks, California, Lalita Warren of Minneapolis, Minnesota, three brothers Kevin (Marsha) Colbert of South Bend, Indiana, Dwayne (Chris) Colbert of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Darryl (Alberta) Colbert of Minneapolis, Minnesota, his wife of over thirty-four years Donna Colbert, two aunts, three uncles, twenty nine nieces and nephews, and a host of loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Lamar Colbert.
